More and more as of late, we are seeing a growing number of people who don’t really need the extra money becoming as greedy as ever. Are the owners having hard time putting bread on the table because of the lockout? The answer is no, not at all. Are the players who are making the league minimum having a hard time putting bread on their table? None what so ever.
In fact, the league minimum is still almost 400 times the average salary of most Americans!
Because of the internet these days, we can follow a player’s life easier than ever before. Such players as Evander Kane, Mike Richards, and Scottie Upshall are always posting pictures of their expensive lifestyles on twitter.
Speaking of Scottie Upshall, he signed a 3.5 million dollar contract last season with Florida and he scored only 5 points last season! That is $700,000 dollars a point! Maybe it’s just me, but if I were him, I would be behind Donald Fehr as well.
We have people struggling all over the United States and so many other countries these days and all we hear about on the news and major sports stations is about the NHL Lockout and the greed of both the players and the owners.
I myself a diehard hockey fan know for sure that it will be very difficult to want to follow hockey as closely as I did before. When will the lockout end? That’s a very good question and one that no one knows (even though TSN keeps reporting that a deal maybe close). More than ever now, the fans need to stick together and show the owners and players who make them millionaire and billionaires and start protesting games on TV, buying memorabilia and watching the games on TV more than ever. This should show them how lucky they really are.
